NGO warns of a fast diminishing production of oil

London, 22nd October (AFP) – The non-government organization Energy Watch Group (EWG) resident in Germany warned of the fast decline of the annual oil deliveries. The peak amount was presumably already reached last year, communicated the group in London on Monday with reference to a study. The daily amount produced will now sink annually by several percent. 81 million barrels were produced daily in 2006. In the year 2020 this amount will probably decrease to 58 million barrels, by 2030 to 39 million barrels, less than half of the amount in 2006. The EWG opposes thereby prognoses of the International Energy Agency (IEA) which counts on 116 million barrels a day in 2030. The IEA sends a dangerous signal to the economy with its numbers, which suggest an improvement of the oil provision, explained the EWG. “The world is at the beginning of a structural change of the economic system” warned the EWG. The group was created by several European Parliamentarians, among them the energy-political speaker of the Greens Parliamentary Group in the German Parliament, Hans-Josef Fell. The IEA and other organizations accuse the EWG of being dependent on the oil economy.
